Maple leaves carried by the current and rhythmic wave patterns unfold across the surface, rendered in vivid, expressive color.
The composition captures a sense of movement and quiet vitality, bringing a timeless motif into the present moment.

About Utsushi
Utsushi is a long-standing practice in Japanese ceramics in which artists respectfully learn from and reinterpret the works of great masters.
Rather than simple reproduction, it is a creative dialogue between past and present, allowing tradition to be carried forward through a contemporary hand.

Each piece is sold individually; designs may vary.

NIEI is a Kiyomizu ware brand founded in 2021 by Niei, a master overglaze painter of Kiyomizu ware and a certified traditional craftsperson.

Currently, NIEI brings together four overglaze painters: its founder Niei, along with Sosha, Kohaku, and Kyoka. Each artist works with a free and individual sensibility, making the discovery of richly distinctive pieces one of the brand’s great pleasures.
