Collection: "Kyo-Sanada himo" / Wrapping string

Sanada cords are plain woven cords used for paulownia wood boxes and armor.
It consists of beautiful patterns woven by warp threads and supporting weft threads, and because it is durable and resistant to stretching, it has been used in a variety of crafts.
Nowadays, the number of craftsmen is decreasing, and there are few craftsmen who can make plant-dyed handwoven Sanada cords. In Kyoto in particular, there are many tea ceremony schools and Buddhist temples that make precious Sanada cords, such as those called tea ceremony promise cords. Promise cords have unique patterns created for each artist, school, and temple, and are used as proof of authenticity for tea utensils and collectibles.
