This work by Touto-gama, a kiln located in the mountains of Kyoto, captures a moment in the movement of cats, making them look as if they could come to life at any moment.

The Hotei Maneki-neko cat's plump figure gives it a bold, impudent appearance. And strong arms to ensure good fortune is brought to you. The right-handed beckoning cat, which brings good fortune, has sharp daytime eyes.

The body is decorated with patterns inspired by the decorations of shrines and temples and Nishijin textiles.
