A floral arabesque sake set created as a "Kenzan utsushi", painted by Niei / no.3328

Flowing floral scrolls unfold across the surface, their rhythmic elegance echoing motifs that Ogata Kenzan is said to have drawn from Ming Dynasty red-painted ceramics.
The design bridges cultures and eras, transforming a historical decorative language into a quietly contemporary presence.

The set consists of one tokkuri (sake flask) and two ochoko cups, each hand-painted and subtly unique in expression.

About Utsushi
Utsushi is a long-standing practice in Japanese ceramics in which artists respectfully learn from and reinterpret the works of great masters.
Rather than simple reproduction, it is a creative dialogue between past and present, allowing tradition to be carried forward through a contemporary hand.
