"Mintsuzure" book jacket
There are many types of tsuzure weaving, including Hontsuzure, Tsuzure Nishiki, Tsumekaki Tsuzure, and Mintsuzure, but Mintsuzure has very thin warp threads, with about four times the number of warp threads per inch as Hontsuzure. Because the weft threads are woven to these thin warp threads, the finished product is softer than Hontsuzure and is characterized by its ability to express intricate patterns.
Genji-kōzu is a symbolic pattern of Kōdō (the Way of Incense), used in the 'Genji-kō' kumikō (incense-judging game), that represents the results of a game where players identify matching incenses by connecting matching lines drawn on a chart.
