Collection: Hikari Shikata

Hikari Shikata

She apprenticed under a master dyer and weaver in Kyoto, mastering the techniques of dyeing with plant dyes and plain weaving of tsumugi silk. In the spring of 2019, she became independent as a dyer and weaver. Since then, she has cherished the "transparency" and "fluctuation" of plant colors and has been hand-weaving kimonos, obi sashes, and other everyday accessories. She draws out colors from her encounters with seasonal plants and weaves each thread into them by hand, so each piece is unique.
