Versatile and convenient for modern life, traditional tenugui towels are also useful

Tenugui are used for a variety of purposes, such as wiping away sweat, wrapping around the head, as cooking utensils, etc. Recently, colorful tenugui have become more common, and they can be used to wrap lunch boxes or plastic bottles, and there are many more ways to enjoy them.

Miyako Modan tenugui are dyed using a method called hand-dyed printing.
Hand-dyed printing is a method in which a stencil is made for each color and color paste is applied with a spatula to allow each color to penetrate the fabric one by one. This requires the skilled technique of years of experience to determine the degree of dye penetration. The intricacy of the patterns is unique to Kyo Yuzen hand-dyed printing.
