Kyo-zougan (Inlays)

Inlay was introduced to Japan during the Kofun period and developed as a decoration for swords and weapons.
There are two types of inlay: Horikomi inlay and Nunome inlay, and Nunome inlay is the main type of inlay in Kyoto, in which textile-like incisions are made on the surface of an iron plate and gold and silver are injected into it to create decorative accessories.
