Collection: Kyoto Shikishi, Tanzaku and Waboncho paper
Kaishi, which originated in anthologies of poems and tanka poetry during the Heian period, evolved into the colored paper and short strips of paper we see today during the Kamakura period.
Originally made by the sutra masters of the Imperial Court, today most of the paper is produced in Kyoto, where the techniques have been passed down.
