The brilliance of gold leaf enriches our lives

These chopsticks are made by a foil artisan of Nishijin-ori, a traditional Kyoto craft. They are characterized by the coloring and patterns they create using the "hikihaku" technique, a unique feature of Nishijin-ori obi fabric.

Furthermore, the extremely rare gold leaf that has been passed down through generations of gold leaf makers develops a unique character with use, allowing you to enjoy the changes that occur over time, just like wearing denim.

We strive to create chopsticks that can be used for a long time and cherished, with the idea that "a pair of chopsticks can make your dining table more enjoyable and enriching."

The gold, silver, and colored foils change appearance depending on the light source and angle. Why not incorporate the gorgeous and luxurious brilliance of Nishijin-ori, which is also known as a "wearable work of art," into your daily life?

Rakugei Kobo

Rakgei Kobo was founded in 1989 as a direct-managed workshop and design department of Murata Shoten, a foil shop with a long history in Nishijin, Kyoto. Over the years, we have been manufacturing the traditional technique of "hikihaku", a speciality of Nishijin textile, and we continue to support and protect this technique of weaving foil, which is said to have been developed over 300 years ago.

The founder, Teruyoshi Murata (the second generation Zenemon), inherited the artistry and advanced techniques of Nishijin-ori, a world-renowned craft of which he was the proud owner, while actively working to create new craftsmanship that transcended the boundaries of traditional craftwork. While creating contacts with a wide range of genres such as art, design, interior design, and fashion, he proposed innovative designs for the domestic and international market.
