Takezasado

Takenaka Woodcut was founded in Kyoto in 1891 (Meiji 24) as a studio responsible for woodblock printing.

In the more than 130 years since then, the demand for woodblock printing has changed due to the development of printing technology.

Having a carver to consistently make woodblock prints, we have grown into the only company that can handle the painting, carving, and printing processes in a single studio. Currently, we are also involved in proposals for product packages that make use of woodblock prints at the request of companies, and restoration and reproduction projects for old woodblocks and old prints that lie dormant in our own temples nationwide. We are always looking for new possibilities to see what we can do with traditional techniques.
