Collection: Jakkyu
This is the only workshop that continues the tradition of "Kyo Koma", a traditional Kyoto craft. "Kyo Koma" originated as "ozashiki" tops made by upper-class women in the "Momoyama" period, by wrapping scraps of "kimono" fabric around a bamboo core. Today, they are made by wrapping flat cotton cord around a bamboo core. Highly artistic tops, such as precise reproductions of the floats used in the "Gion" Festival, are also popular as ornamental pieces.
