"Sanjyo-Oohashi" by Kenji Takenaka

Sanjo Ohashi Bridge, depicted as the final destination of the Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido, is a perfect blend of past and present. The balustrade's shishiboshi (stone-shaped ornaments) bear a sword wound said to have been made during the Ikedaya Incident, and on the west side of the bridge is a statue of Noji Kita, who appears in the novel "Tokaido Chu Hizakurige." The bridge is depicted as a serene place that has seen the history of Kyoto both in the past and present, and is a great place for young people to gather in modern times.
