Seigaiha - Blue ocean wave

The seigaiha design originated in a folk design from the Qinghai region of China and was used in the "seigaiha" costume as part of court dancing and music in the early Heian period.

Used not only for cloth dying and Noh costumes, the design was also employed in gold and silver makie lacquering on furnishings.
