A hand-printed woodblock book Jacket, made one by one
Woodblock print “Shikitari” / Issei Nojima
“Shikitari” is a Japanese word referring to customs and practices that have been passed down through generations.
This design depicts three such customs rooted in everyday life in Kyoto: sweeping the entrance, sprinkling water, and placing purifying salt.
These traditions are expressed through three simple geometric forms — □ ○ △ — creating a minimal yet evocative design inspired by Kyoto’s culture and sense of beauty.
Each piece is made entirely by hand through the traditional woodblock printing process: drawing the design, carving the woodblock, and printing it by hand with a baren. The subtle variations in color and texture give each cover the distinctive warmth of a handmade print.
