Collection: "Kyo Kumihimo"/ Kyo braided cords
It was introduced from China during the Nara period, and by the Edo period it had spread to the common people and was actively produced. Nearly 80 types are produced, mainly for obi-jime (sash ties) and haori cords, but also for netsuke cords. The large number of types speaks to the wide range of uses. It
is a handiwork that uses a number of sets of stands, including round and square stands, and is one of the elegant Kyoto crafts that has been cultivated in Kyoto culture.
