Hikari Shikata
She apprenticed under a master dyer in Kyoto, mastering the techniques of dyeing with vegetable dyes and plain weaving of tsumugi silk. In the spring of 2019, she became independent as a dyer and weaver.
Since then, I have been hand-weaving kimonos, obi sashes, and other everyday items, cherishing the "transparency" and "fluctuation" of the colors of plants.
The colors are drawn from encounters with seasonal plants, and each thread is handwoven, so each piece is unique.
