This is a "kyokoma" in the shape of a Christmas tree.
It looks like a cake.
Kyo-koma" is made by winding cotton strings (bundles of color-dyed cotton threads) over each other.
Since it is a koma (Japanese top spinning top), the top part can be detached and spun.
