Dainichi Kiln / Yotaro Takemura

Kyoto's Yamashina Ward is dotted with Kiyomizu ware potteries, studios of individual artists, and material wholesalers. There is a workshop called "Dainichigama" near Kajuji, an ancient temple in the south. Named after the opening of the kiln at the foot of Mt. Minamidainichi, this small kiln is run by potter Yotaro Takemura and his father Shigeo.

We specialize in flowing glazes with rich colors such as turquoise and gradations, glazes made from the ashes of burnt plants, and gentle forms.
