"Viva! Kyoto Woodblock Prints" will be held at MOCAD Gallery starting from 23rd May,and we are now displaying the woodblock artworks by Takezasado, founded in 1891 (24th year of Meiji) at the entrance.
Woodblock printing is the oldest printing method in Japan. With the printing technology developed today, we have fewer opportunities to see it. The entire process of woodblock printing, from drawing a picture, carving in the woodblock, and printing with a baren, is done by hand, thereby giving the colors and textures some nostalgic warmth.
The entrance display:07/05/2024~30/06/2024
