This is a wonderful product, just wanted you to know that your Shoki is now protecting our front door in Southern California. We brought it back in our luggage as you packed it.
It is really a nice touch, it looks beautiful and reminds us of your City's wonderful culture.
It took us two weeks in Kyoto to find it, in your museum, which btw is wonderful as well. Yes, your museum is really nice as well, and yes we bought more very nice things there as well.
The Shoki over our front door looks wonderful and makes us happy.
Thank you.
- Description
Mr. Shoki with a glare and a dignified appearance
The tiled “Shoki-san” is placed on the roof of a Kyomachiya.
Legend has it that in the Tang Dynasty, Zhong Kui, a priest of Zhongnan Mountain, appeared in Emperor Xuanzong's dream and exorcised evil spirits and cured his illness.
At the end of the year in China, there are still places where the image is hung at the entrance to ward off evil spirits. , has been exorcised.
The Asada Kawara Factory is one of the few studios that still does all of these processes by hand, from making the clay that Shoki uses, making the base, molding, polishing, and firing.
The unique texture of oxidized silver and the dignified beauty are the result of the painstaking work of a craftsman.
