$30.00"Continuing the tradition for 100 years.
The Flower Karuta is a globally renowned masterpiece of karuta created by Japanese people from the Muromachi to the Edo period.
It's a 'premium dyed karuta', meticulously crafted by artisans who carefully apply washi paper to each card.
'Premium dyeing' refers to the lifeblood technique of karuta, which involves using wheat starch paste to carefully paint in red or black. Then, it's glossed and strengthened with a natural resin liquid akin to persimmon tannin. This method has been a hidden traditional Kyoto technique passed down for hundreds of years.
These traditional handmade washi karuta cards possess a unique texture and beauty.
